Gaggia Brera Vs Philips 2200

Gaggia Brera vs Philips 2200 are both top-notch espresso makers for their pure ceramic grinders. They will help you enjoy a bold and aromatic cup of espresso whenever you want.

To be honest, I consider the Gaggia Brera as the winner for its high-tech mechanism and easy-to-use interface. There is no difficulty in using this machine.

The Philips 2200 is not much behind for providing up to 12 grinding options to let users opt for their desired beans ground. Accordingly, you can brew coffee with your exact favorite strength and flavor.

Gaggia Brera Vs Philips 2200 – Differences

In this comparison, I find it hard to decide which one is better than the other as they boast their unique strengths that totally win my heart.

But the Gaggia Brera beats the Philips 2200 with a score of 2-1 for its super-automatic mechanism and user-friendly interface. It is ideal for coffee lovers who do not want to do much manual work to brew coffee, especially those who are often busy with their work.

Meanwhile, the Philips 2200 might be the answer for those who seek a machine with multiple-grinding settings so that they can adjust their coffee grind size according to their preferences.

#1. Brewing Experience

The Winner: It’s a tie

The Gaggia Brera comes with numerous settings to support the whole brewing process. This fact is proven by how the manufacturer equips the machine with adjustable pre-brewing mode, coffee length, and its exclusive Gaggia Adapting system.

Accordingly, the coffee maker can recognize your favorite coffee settings and adjust how its grinder works to accommodate your coffee beans. This feature is greatly convenient as you will not need to re-enter the variables for the same beverage during every brew.

Moreover, it features a Pannarello steam wand to transform your milk into a rich and smooth foam for specialty coffee. On the other hand, the Philips 2200 sports a smart brewing system to make two aromatic and flavorful coffees simultaneously like a breeze.

It also allows you to adjust temperature and aroma strength. What makes me impressed most about the Philips model is its exclusive aroma seal technology that can guarantee the best aroma for your coffee.

Regarding its milk solution, there is a classic milk frother that can dispense steam to prepare silky milk foam to add to the top of your coffee. There is also a mode called My Coffee which lets you choose from its three settings to meet your preferences.

Both coffee makers have their great points of brewing experience. I can hardly decide which is better in this field. That’s why I evaluate it’s a tie in terms of brewing experience.

#2. Programmability

The Winner: Gaggia Brera

The Gaggia Brera is more prominent than its counterpart. It comes with a super-automatic mechanism, which helps you brew coffee fast and easily. Unlike the fully automatic machines, the super-automatic models can perform almost all the brewing steps for you.

The winner uses an automatic milk frothing solution to transform your milk into a rich, creamy foam. All you need to do is press the steaming button, and the rest is on the machine.

Though the fully automatic system of the Philips 2200 is not as convenient as its super-automatic counterpart, it does lower manual control for you. As a fully automatic machine, it can automatically brew coffee. But it does not do all the stuff for you. You still need to tamp and grind your coffee beans on your own.

Like other fully automatic models, it comes with a flowmeter feature to monitor and control the quantity of water going through the puck.

#3. Grinding Settings

The Winner: Philips 2200

The Philips 2200 and Gaggia Brera come with 100% pure ceramic grinders, ideal for grinding beans without overheating or burning. But the former features up to 12 grinding settings from ultra-fine to coarse to provide your desired coffee grind size.

Whether you are craving flat whites, espressos, lattes, or cappuccinos, it can satisfy you. The latter is slightly inferior to its counterpart with only five built-in grinding settings. You have fewer beverage options as a result.

#4. Interface

The Winner: Gaggia Brera

There is a slight difference between the Gaggia Brera and the Philips 2200. While the former comes with push-button controls and a LED display to adjust the brewing process, the latter has an intuitive touch display.

I find it more convenient to use the interface of the winner rather than that of the Philips 2200. You can seek the variables easily and keep track of the brewing process well, thanks to the familiar icons used to demonstrate.
