In 2013, the Swiss company Jura shocked the coffee machine industry by introducing its latest Jura Ena Micro 5 model, which was and still is the most compact double-serve coffee maker. My Jura Ena Micro 5 review will discuss more in detail how convenient and fast-brewing this machine can be.
I highly recommend this gadget for those who have limited space in their kitchen corner but still wish to achieve the brewing speed, taste, and functions like other advanced models of Jura.
Let’s check out all of its features!

Who Will Benefit The Most From Buying The Jura Ena Micro 5?
If you have read other review articles of mine, you will notice that I’ve mentioned how compact the Jura A1 is. Both Jura A1 and Jura Ena Micro 5 have the same weights and dimensions, but the most evident point you can differentiate between them is the number of spouts.
While Jura A1 follows the single-serve function, Ena Micro 5 can produce a larger batch with its double spouts. Therefore, I reckon my Jura Ena Micro 5 espresso machine review will be mainly devoted to those who need a compact machine and can still produce a consistent number of batches.
The three outstanding features of the Jura Ena Micro 5 I want to introduce today include an intelligent coffee spout, compact and lightweight design, and a pre-brew aroma system.
Intelligent coffee spout
It is always great to earn a coffee machine to brew a large batch without paying too much additional cost. Compared to the price of Jura A1 with a single-spout, Jura Ena Micro 5 is equipped with a double-spout feature.
However, instead of going along with the boring and plain design, Jura popped up a unique selling point for the model. It creates a rotatable spout that can choose either one or two-cup servings. If you select a single coffee cup (or double), simply twist the spout’s height and prepare your mug for the shot.
Apart from this model, no other machine in the Jura family can adjust the number of shots by rotating the gadget’s spout. The most they can do is adjust the spout height to fit the mug sizes.
From simple coffee to double ristretto shots, Jura ENA Micro 5 with ultra-compact size allows it all.
Compact and lightweight construction
Even now, after almost 8 years of existing in the market, I’m still amazed by how convenient it looks on every kitchen countertop. Some people tend to look for a big, heavy gadget that has many advanced functions. In the end, some of them even fail to operate.
Jura Ena Micro 5, on the other hand, tips the scale of 19.6 pounds only. It’s effortless for owners to pick it up and carry it around without breaking any sweat. Its sizes are quite similar to the Jura A1 model, where there are 9.1 inches in width, 12.7 inches in height, and 17.5 inches in depth.
With the simple yet straightforward operation, Jura Ena Micro 5 is very easy to use, especially when it’s compatible with an icon-based touch display. In addition, it even moves the control panel to the top of the machine, saving unused space and preserving the minimalistic outlook.
Pre Brew Aroma system
The duty of keeping the coffee bean inside the hopper is very essential. A little mistake from the lack of preservation will totally destroy the coffee flavor. Luckily, Jura Ena Micro 5 comes with a container lid and an Aroma+ grinder.
Furthermore, it’s also equipped with the Intelligent Pre Brew Aroma system, which is proprietary to only Jura products. The system will help users take care of the pre-brew process by extracting the beans’ maximum flavor.
Obviously, this factor does not relate to our main key of space-saving, but I want you to know more about how awesome Ena Micro 5 is when optimizing drinkers’ taste buds.
What Can Be Improved?
My Jura Micro 5 review cannot miss pointing out the disadvantage elements that Jura should listen to and improve in the future. This time, we have two points.
One Minor drawback
Since it’s an automatic coffee maker, I would expect it to be supported by Jura Smart Connect, where you can control the coffee machine through a tablet or smartphone.
Unfortunately, the only way of brewing a cup of coffee using this machine is to manually press the buttons on the control panel and wait for the brewing process. But I think this drawback is only minor since I understand the touch panel is adequate for some users to operate freely.
One Major Drawback
The small size of the bean hopper and water capacity is the major disadvantage. As for a compact machine, we have to expect limited water, coffee beans or even ground coffee. As for Jura A1, this might not be a problem since it can brew only a shot per time.
However, for Jura Ena Micro 5, which can generate 2 shots simultaneously, water or coffee will run out very fast. Constantly refilling the tanks is not an easy or fun job to do at all. Therefore, buyers who are not the caffeinated addict is the most suitable person.
The Alternatives For Jura Ena Micro 5
With the same cost and similar functions, Jura D6 and Jura A1 are the two perfect alternatives that you substitute for the Jura Ena Micro 5 review model. Jura A1 is compact and lightweight like the Ena Micro 5, while the D6 has a double spout and much larger water or bean reservoir.
If you prefer to have a machine that allows users for a more programmable drink option, I highly recommend looking after another brand’s coffee maker, such as Phillips 3200 or 2200. They both have a built-in milk frother, touch-screen control panel, and double-spout for large batch demand.

Conclusion
After reading my Jura Ena Micro 5 review, you should have a general idea of the product’s good and bad points. Jura Ena Micro 5 is most suitable for buyers who have a small kitchen corner and seldomly brew cups of coffee. In another word, it’s mostly designed for a small family of up to 2 people.
If you still cannot find the right machine, stay tuned for my next review article!
