In my opinion, both Roborock E4 vs S5 robots have the most efficient navigation system, nice minimalist design, excellent construction, and performance. These high-quality robot vacuums are suitable to become a smart home device of all house types.
However, after great consideration, I find out that the Roborock S5 is more favorable to me and most American houses. In case you want to know why let’s dive right into this comparison table below and check out my 5 factors that influence the decision.
Roborock E4 vs S5: Why Is Roborock S5 Better Than E4?
The first step of reviewing robot vacuums must be based on an external factor – appearance. As you can see in the pictures below, the two robots’ designs are very simple and straightforward. They offer the same O-shaped with black shade color.
The two differences I spot from these machines are the material and construction style of the control panel. While the glossy-black S5 is equipped with a turret on top for more precise navigation and mapping, our matte Roborock E4’s surface is smooth and even.
The lack of a turret reduces the height of the E4 robot vacuum, which allows it to slide under furniture and adds up to the machine’s aesthetical value. It tips the total height of 3.8 inches, where 0.8 inches is for the small dock locator in the front.
Roborock E4’s vacuum cleaner is also lighter than the S5 machine – only 7 pounds and 7.7 pounds, respectively. Some of you might think the weight is not essential since you rarely have to pick it up by hand. However, the robot’s weight will affect how soft and quiet it moves while operating.
Therefore, I suggest the model E4 over the S5 Roborock for the lower height and lighter weight.
In case you don’t know, the suction power of a vacuum cleaner will influence how efficiently it can pick up different types of debris on the ground. As a result, the higher number of suction power, the better is the machine.
Luckily, you can obtain a 2000 Pa of suction strength if you purchase one of these two. With this high suction level, the machine’s fan will suck all the particles, dust, pet hair, and fur that sit on the floors.
Given the massive boost to the E4 vacuum cleaner’s suction power is a 5-arm side brush that grabs all the stubborn dirt back to the main brushroll. This extra brush comes with two different speeds that make the cleaning even better.
On the other hand, the S5 model offers only a 3-arm side brush. It also has two speeds of 330rpm when sweeping along the edge and 130rpm to prevent dust from flying. The S5 gadget certainly minimizes the possibility of missing dirt; however, if I were you, I would choose the Roborock E4.
With 2000 Pa suction level and 5 brushes, your house’s floor is thoroughly cleaned horizontally and vertically.
When talking about the cleaning performance of these two flagship models, I discovered that the S5 robot has more features and advantages for household users.
First of all lies in the function to save map. While the E4 gadget finds it impossible to save any map in your house, the Roborock S5 can remember up to 3 maps for your home. With this feature, you can save time and clean your house easier.
The second factor is the virtual barriers where you want to limit the robot’s cleaning area in a particular area. The S5 device allows you to adjust the no-go zones in your house with just one action through the smartphone, while its counterpart offers no such feature.
With no-go zones mode, the E4 is obviously unable to detect the selective room cleaning. Lacking this feature can be a huge disadvantage for a 2020-release machine of Roborock E4. In short, users won’t be able to control their own devices to follow the paths they want.
Regardless, Roborock E4 is equipped with four-speed settings, obstacle sensors, and carpet boost feature despite all the lacking functions. Its dustbin and water tank capacities are also much more significant than its competitor.
Its 640 ml of dustbin can sweep a 2120 square feet room with one go while the Roborock S5 robot cleans room with 2000 square feet by its 480 ml. The same happens to the mopping feature, where you can wet cleaning your non-carpet floors with a 180 ml water tank of E4 robot and 140 ml of S5 vacuum.
In my opinion, even though the Roborock E4 has larger dustbin and water reservoir capacities, its cleaning area isn’t really impressive comparing to the S5 vacuum. Therefore, I will give the Roborock S5 a point for all the positive factors above.
The battery runtime depends on the modes and function you command the vacuum to do. For example, if you continuously let the robot vacuums switch between vacuuming and mopping, the drain speed will be much faster.
When talking about normal vacuuming mode, the Roborock E4 runs nearly 150 minutes until its battery returns to 0%. When this happens, the gadget will have to quickly return to the charging dock and reload for about 240 minutes.
On the flip side, the 5200 mAh battery of the S5 device requires less than 20 minutes for charging. As for the running duration, it offers the same 150 minutes.
In my perspective, the shorter charging time will be a plus for a smart home gadget. So, I’ll go for the winner S5 vacuum.
A robust engine will have to generate great sound. That is the principle you should always keep in mind when looking for any type of gadget.
In our case, since both models offer the same engine ratio, their noise levels are different. The Roborock E4 offers 60 decibels while the other one generates 5 decibels less.
Isn’t that sound great?! But no! Both of the robot vacuums are louder than the ratio I’ve mentioned above. I only discover this after purchasing the E4 robot. At a max mode, it produces at least 67 decibels.
While for the S5 model, I experience a quieter noise, roughly around 62-66 decibels. No one would like to have a loud gadget in their houses, so our comparison category’s final point is given to the Roborock S5.
Quick Rundown of Roborock Robot Vacuum Cleaner E4
- Affordable price
- Stylish design with matte finish
- Large electric water tank
- Separately mopping attachment
Quick Rundown of Roborock Robot Vacuum Cleaner S5
- Availability of virtual barriers
- Great suction power
- Glossy modern design
- Imperfect mopping feature
This is such a tight battle between Roborock E4 vs S5 since both have excellent cleaning and mopping points. However, my decision, my winner, and my choice will be the Roborock S5 vacuum. It produces less noise, a shorter charging time, and especially more advanced choices in cleaning.
But if you want a more budgeted option where a machine can map precisely in bigger room areas, the Roborock E4 is undoubtedly an option to consider.
