I’ve just discovered that many people fancy the iRobot Roomba S9 vacuum cleaner for its sophisticated design and unique D-shaped. However, the machine costs a fortune to present in your house. I decided to find the best alternative options for the iRobot Roomba S9 – the Roborock S4 vs Neato D4.
If you want to know which one will utilize your house more, then it’s time to check out this information table below.

Comparison between Roborock S4 vs Neato D4
Design
While reviewing robot vacuum cleaners, I often struggle in comparing their design. They often look similar with a circular shape, black shade, and plastic construction.
However, Roborock and Neato Botvac D4 offer a very distinguished look on the surface. While Roborock S4 comes with a standard O-shaped, the Neato D4 vacuum cleaner provides a D-shaped structure that allows the machine to hug the homes’ edge and corner more precisely.
Undoubtedly, this feature, which has gained lots of interest from worldwide buyers, is the notable point of the iRobot Roomba S9.
Neato Robotics D4 has correctly adopted the idea to give users much reasonable price with the same quality and performance. Their shapes do not affect both robots’ weights since the two tip the scale of around 7.7-8 pounds.
Another difference between the two top-rated robot vacuums is the construction material. If the Roborock S4 is built entirely with matt black plastic, the Neato Botvac D4 is coated with a more resilient silicone material on the lid’s top.
In my opinion, this silicone will prevent scratches and marks when the device hits the house’s furniture while operating.
When we talk about the ability to slide under and above different objects inside one’s house, Neato D4 vs Roborock S4 robot vacuums do a fantastic job without getting stuck.
The 3.9 inches height of the Neato Robotics D4 robot vacuum cleaner allows the machine to easily sneak under any couch or cabinets, while the 5.8-inches Roborock might interfere with some jamming. On the other hand, the Roborock S4 gadget can climb over any object of 0.8 inches maximum.
Another massive boost for the Roborock robotic vacuums is the extra brushes on the right side. This 5-arm rubber brush enables the robot vacuums to raise corner cleaning’s possibility, which is even more efficient than the Neato Robotics.
Why? Because its counterpart isn’t compatible with any single side brush, giving it quite a drawback for a D-shape robot vacuum.
However, I prefer to give the Neato Botvac robot vacuums a point for its advanced shape. So Neato Botvac D4 is the winner for this round.
Suction Power
The 2500 suction power of iRobot Roomba is the strongest engine for all types of robot vacuums; however, we only have a maximum of 2000 Pa for Roborock S4 and 1400 Pa for Neato Robotics D4.
You can see that the Roborock products often spot a better suction rating. It even features four suction modes of quiet, balanced, turbo, and max with different debris types such as cereal, dust, particles, or stubborn dirt on carpet. The Neato models offer only an eco and performance mode.
When the Roborock S4 encounters high-pile or low-pile carpets, its carpets boost feature is activated. This means the machine will automatically detect the floors and adjust the suction strength to suck up all debris.
The suction strength of Neato D4 is too weak and might not be compatible with picking up large pecks of dirt. Therefore, my suggested winner of this round is Roborock S4.
Cleaning Performance
In terms of cleaning, the Roborock S4 also outstands the Neato D4 vacuum cleaner.
The first thing is the main brush. While the roborock model’s brush can be easily removed to take out all pet hairs, fur, or even carpet fibers, the Neato Robotics’ huge roller brush takes time to extract.
The second issue is the phone APP control. Users can manage both robots’ activities through an APP, however; the Roborock S4 opens for more selections such as no zone cleaning, real-time mapping, etc. The Botvac model is only available with virtual barriers No-Go lines.
The third factor is the cleaning area that each machine can run in one go. The Roborock gadget is designed to perform for 2700 sqft larger homes, while the Neato D4 is only applicable for 1191 sqft.
The Neato robots do have some advantages; one of them is the SLAM mapping technology. The Neato is one of the companies which comes up with laser-guided navigation and logical mapping for your home. As a result, its navigated ability is in the excellent range for all vacuum types.
Instead of running randomly, which ding and scratch furniture, the Neato robots would like to take things steady and slow for the entire operation, especially with hardwood floors. This feature is called “Extra Care Navigation.”
But the reason I would like to go for Roborock S4 is the powerful drivetrain that prevents it from getting stuck. While other robots can only move forward, Roborock products may navigate out of complicated areas at ease.
Battery Life
Probably the most disappointing point of Neato D4 lies in its battery capacity. Its Li-Ion 4200 mAh can run continuously in 75 minutes only! And what about its competitor? Featuring a very large 5200 mAh battery capacity, the Roborock S4 gadget gives a rate of 180-minute run time.
Usually, with such small run times, we often expect a short charging time. Things just don’t work with the Neato model. The Botvac D4 vacuums take 2-3 hours to charge from depleted to full, while the Roborock requires approximately 3.6 hours.
A machine that has a small engine and battery life is not something I would crave for. The winner for this round is undoubtedly the Roborock S4.
Noise
This round is a tie. Both models of robots do not develop any soundproofing materials; therefore, their noise level is approximately 65-69 decibels depending on the speed type.
After reviewing many robotic vacuum cleaners, I’ve spotted that the engine and the noise do not directly influence each other. Instead, a machine that has more features and modes tends to generate louder noise. In this case, both of our reviewed robots offer only vacuuming mode, which is still acceptable for most households.

Conclusion
In the end, my final decision for the battle of Roborock S4 vs Neato D4 is the Roborock S4. Even though its price is higher than the counterpart, it’s worth the purchase.
With longer battery life, superior suction strength, better sensors for mapping, and in-control room selection, the Roborock S4 is ideal for those who need an affordable gadget but still perform extraordinarily.
