The winner of the Gaggia Anima Prestige Vs Saeco Incanto match-off is the former unit. It comes out on top thanks to its brewing technology and design.
This model has a smart learning system to prepare your pucks in an optimal way. There is also a special hopper aroma lid that helps preserve the wonderful smell of fresh whole beans.
The new Incanto HD8917/48 resembles the above machine in almost every way. This unit costs a little bit more but is very suitable for those who are living in hard water areas. It is because of its included AquaClean filter.

Gaggia Anima Prestige Vs Saeco Incanto – Differences
Being more attentive with the pre-brewing process, the Anima Prestige gains an upper hand regarding coffee flavor. It also brings a few design advantages. The Incanto performs almost as well but is a bit more pricey.
This match ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of the Gaggia machine.
Coffee Quality
The Winner: Gaggia Anima Prestige
There are no significant differences in their heating and milk systems. They differ in what happens before extracting. That is where the Anima Prestige shines.
The Gaggia unit puts more effort in treating your coffee. It has an airtight lid for the beans hopper. You can comfortably leave some beans in the hopper without worrying about losing aroma.
Like many Gaggia models, this unit comes with the Gaggia Adapting System. This smart feature learns the characteristics of your beans and adjusts the machine to make the most out of them.
The Incanto has a quite nice thing going on which is the included AquaClean water filter. Pure water is not just important for your extracting results but your machine’s longevity.
To combat hard water with the other espresso maker, you can buy an Intenza+ water filter. I really recommend you to do so. An Intenza+ may cost less than the price differences between the two machines.
Utilities
The Winner: It is a tie
They offer standard functionalities of super-automatic espresso makers. There are six options on their menus and all coffee drinks are one-touch.
You can customize your drinks with the memo feature. It lets you choose your preferred strength, volume, temperature, and milk length.
Other utilities that they share are auto-rinsing, auto-descaling, a removable drip tray, a removable water tank, and a quick clean function for the milk carafe.
Their storage capacity is also the same. Their water tank, beans hopper, waste container, and milk carafe hold the same amount of content.
Design
The Winner: Gaggia Anima Prestige
Having many cosmetic upgrades compared to the basic Anima model, the Anima Prestige now has a cleaner stainless steel look.
This Incanto model is also not the first machine to bear its name. It looks widely different from the RI9722/11 Incanto. Now its appearance is very similar to the Anima Prestige.
It may have something to do with the acquisition history of Gaggia, Saeco, and Philips. Nevertheless, the distinction between the two models are mainly their control panel.
The Gaggia unit has a blue and white screen while the other unit has a black and white one. Personally, I like the black and white screen a little more but that is not enough for the Seaco unit to win this round.
In fact, this model has lost another round because of its drip tray. This tray requires a lot of shaking and tilting to take out. Cleaning is not particularly fun and this does not make it any better.
Cleaning And Maintenance
The Winner: It is a tie
Because of the drip tray problem mentioned above, the Incanto is down one point in this round. However, it still manages a tie thanks to its AquaClean water filter.
Descaling is essential to maintaining espresso machines. Tap water often has minerals. A high amount of them may be harmful to your health and your machine.
Overtime, the boiling process builds up limescale inside the brewing system. To get rid of limescale, you need to descale your machine regularly.
One way to avoid this twenty to forty minutes task is to reduce harmful minerals in the first place. An AquaClean filter can last for more than six hundred cups in normal circumstances.
If you replace it on schedule, you will not have to descale your coffee maker for up to five thousand cups.
