Comparison between Vitamix e320 vs 5200
Design
What can we say here? To be honest, I’m not fond of the blender’s design between these two. Vitamix e320 vs 5200 gives customers a heavy feeling due to their bulky, sturdy motor bases. However, if I had to choose one of them, I would go for the Vitamix e320.
Unlike the wide control panel of the Vitamix e320, Vitamix 5200 has a minimalistic look. It’s composed of a durable soft-touch rubber, an on/off switch, and a 10-variable speed dial. Its variable speed knob is smaller than the Vitamix e320’s, but its dimension and weights are bigger and heavier.
On the other hand, Vitamix e320 has 11 x 8 x 18 inches and 10lb in weight. It’s available in only two color options of red and black, but the design is simple without all the bells and whistles like other Ascent series models.
Keep durability in mind, Vitamix e320 blender provides a Pulse feature, which the Vitamix 5200 does not have. With this switch, you can make a burst of power to chop tough ingredients and more. Besides, the e320 device comes with a metal drive system that securely connects the container and the motor base for maximum sturdiness.
At first sight, Vitamix 5200 does not give an elegant and lightweight vibe; therefore, I choose Vitamix e320 as the winner for this round.
Capacity and Cleanup
Believe me, whatever blender you buy from the Vitamix brand (whether it’s Vitamix e320 or 5200), a 64 oz container is what you’re going to receive. You might think, “Great! I can blend more ingredients and create a larger batch of food.” However, for a small-size family of only up to 4 or maybe even 2 people, a 64-ounce jar is huge. You can purchase a 48 oz- container or even smaller for a more suitable choice.
Both models’ jar is designed with ergonomic rubber handles that prevent spillage from doing heavy-duty jobs such as grinding ice or pulverizing nuts.
I have to admit that I like the classic jar shape of Vitamix 5200 more than the e320 model. This narrow bottom, high-profile design (like a transparent vacuum bottle) makes it different from other standard blenders in the market. And it’s the same 64 ounces container like a e320 blender!
Even though it’s not a low-profile container, I will still give one additional point to the 5200 model.
In terms of cleanup, the e320 blender is more convenient. Both the lid and container are dishwasher-safe and made of BPA-free Eastman Tritan. If you purchase the 5200 model, you will have to wash the blade and the jar manually. Or, add a liquid soap inside the jar and let it blend freely for about a minute, and you’re finished. But…isn’t it too time-consuming? Just throw the machine in the dishwasher with the rest of your plates and forks, and you’re done!
E320 definitely gains a point, doesn’t it? Yes, it does!
Noise
Noise is one of the biggest drawbacks of the Vitamix e320 model. It creates a loud noise level of 91-104 dB, which customers often find unacceptable for a 2020 blender. My explanation for this noisy blending is due to the 2.2-peak hp motor. It makes the e320 blender more powerful at chopping, grinding, or blending challenging items than the 2 peak motor of the 5200 blender. High-performance blenders are noisy.
However, I understand that this disadvantage is a huge minus for the product. Those who have a newborn child or hearing-sensitive users should choose the other model.
With 60-90 dB of noise, this round winner is 5200.
Additional Features
Do you notice that we have a tie for this battle? Let me give you more additional features so we can identify the final winner.
Let’s talk about the motor base. The e320 has a radial cooling fan that prevents any heating issues while churning through hot food. You don’t expect your machine to feel like a burning fire, do you?
Vitamix e320 comes with a longer blade of 4 inches. This is due to the low-profile container that gives the blade more space to chop items. Therefore, if you prefer to have a large batch of meals, go for the Vitamix e320 model. Since the Vitamix 5200’s blade is only 3 inches, it’s sufficient to make a small batch with a 64 classic containers.
Regarding assurance, Vitamix 5200 vs e320 blenders are available for up to 7 years of full warranty.
