Differences Between Miele Jura D6 vs E8

Design & Convenience

If you ask me which one I prefer more, I will choose the E8, undoubtedly. Why is it so?

As you can see in the information table, the dimensions of both coffee machines are quite similar – the Jura E8 has 1 inch wider than the D6. The two coffee machines are double-serve gadgets that allow users to make two cups of coffee simultaneously.

But while the milk frother of D6 is attached to the right side of the machine, the E8’s design places its frother right next to the dual-spout. Due to this, I would prefer the design of E8 for a more capacious purpose. The Jura E8 gives me a more sleek design when placing the frother separately.

Besides, the control panel of E8 is a screen display where you can adjust the level and types of brewing with the touch of a button. The D6 model has only a plain text display, running on the panel of the gadget. It was pretty complicated when I first tried to use the machine. Thanks to the help of the instruction manual, I was able to brew my very first espresso from the D6.

The E8 with screen display provided me with a much more simple process. I didn’t need any external help. However, its only minus in terms of design is the weight. It tips the scale of 21.6 pounds, which is 3.8 pounds heavier than its competitor.

Wattages and Capacity

When it comes to this round, the D6 seems to have more advantages in the large water capacity. With 67 ounces of water reservoir, you can make lots of batches without constantly refilling the water. However, its bean capacity is only 7 ounces, which is 3 ounces less than the E8 model.

As a machine designed to make large batches, the 64 ounces of E8 is rather disappointing. Thankfully, its engine is 1450 watts and is adequate to start the machine and heat water fast. And with the double-serve function, you can easily brew up to 5 espresso cups in about 10 minutes.

The wattage of D6 also reaches 1450 figures, which offers a steady number for home use. If you’re the type who likes to interchange your beverages between coffee and tea every time, the E8 with a small water tank will not be a suitable option. I recommend going for the D6.

Additional Features and Accessories

First of all, let’s talk about the number of specialties that both machines have. When looking for an automatic machine, you will expect some sort of machine’s programmable selections that will help you save a bundle of time and energy. Yes, Jura E8 vs D6 all have certain presets and specialties.

The E8, which is the flagship product of the brand, offers users up to 16 specialties while its counterpart only has 7. Both gadgets have a milk frother, which means apart from standard espresso and coffee, users can make milk-based drinks. However, only the E8 can brew such drinks as Macchiato, Latte Macchiato, Ristretto, etc.

The next function that I highly suggest users go for the flagship model is the higher coffee strength levels and programmable temperature of hot water. The coffee strength level of D6 is only half of the E8’s – one of the reasons why D6 has so few presets. The coffee grinder of E8 is also an upgraded version of the D6’s grinder that preserves coffee aroma better and fresher.

Other than that, both models are compatible with other high technologies and systems such as P.E.P extraction system, Smart Connect, and height-adjustable spout.

After all the points I’ve pointed out above, it would be such a waste if we neglect the chance of owning the E8 coffee machine.
